A low drone sound used to build tension and to contribute to an eerie, uneasy atmosphere.
SCREECHING STRINGS
Created by a 'waterphone' the instrument is tapped, hit or used with a bow to create a variety of different pitches and high pitched screech sounds. USed in jumpy scenes, or to build tension.
CHILDLIKE CHIME/ LULLABY
Commonly used in horror movies involving children or dolls, gives it a very creepy feel which often juxtaposes with what is happening in the scene, which alienates the audience.
