We have decided to rate our film opening a bbfc 15, and therefore not suitable for children under 15, because it will include the following off the bbfc specification.
According to bbfc in a 15 rating film it is acceptable that there can be:
Our opening includes sexual violence, but it is not explicit. However the context and storyline of the opening could be disturbing for a young audience, and covers adult themes such as domestic abuse. Therefore a 15 would be the most appropriate rating.
- Strong threat and horror as long as there is no sustained
focus on sadistic or sexualised threat.
- The depiction of easily accessible weapons depending on
factors such as realism, context and setting
- Any portrayal depiction of sexual violence must be discreet
and justified by context.
